Mental Health
With its new Mental Health business area, MEDICE brings together decades of expertise in mental health, establishing it as a central pillar of its multimodal healthcare solutions. Our ambition is clear: to support people throughout all stages of life with integrated, evidence-based and individually adaptable therapy concepts. We take a holistic view of health – ranging from pharmacological treatment and digital therapies to nutrition-based approaches.
Our goal is to provide patients with the optimal combination of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies – tailored to their individual life situations, needs and disease pathways. In close exchange with healthcare professionals and digital partners, we are shaping an integrative approach that empowers people, strengthens their capabilities and supports them sustainably.
ADHD
More than 25 years ago, MEDICE embarked on a journey that has fundamentally shaped the company: entering the field of ADHD treatment with Medikinet®. What began as a bold decision driven by pioneering spirit has become a defining chapter of our story – and a symbol of our commitment to taking responsibility when it comes to helping people.
Through close collaboration with physicians, therapists, parents and patients, a unique area of expertise has evolved over the years – comprising a broad portfolio of pharmacological, digital and educational solutions for children, adolescents and adults with ADHD.
For many years, the majority of children, adolescents and adults with ADHD in Germany and across Europe have been treated with MEDICE medications (based on sales in standard units, IQVIA Q1 2025).

Umfassende Lösungen für ADHS - und darüber hinaus
ADHD is rarely an isolated diagnosis. Many patients also experience associated conditions (comorbidities) such as sleep disorders, anxiety, eating disorders or depressive symptoms. For us at MEDICE, it was clear from an early stage that ADHD is only the starting point. By addressing associated conditions, we develop healthcare solutions that cover a wide spectrum of mental health conditions.
MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS MORE THAN JUST MEDICINE
Despite clear guideline recommendations, access to multimodal care that includes psychotherapy remains a major challenge for children, adolescents and adults. Only 6.8% of treated patients receive guideline-based multimodal therapy – reflecting gaps in care and the reality of healthcare provision, not only in ADHD but across the entire field of mental health.
With the establishment of its own unit Medigital®, strategic partnerships and the acquisition of Selfapy® in 2025, MEDICE has actively addressed this gap. Today, the MEDICE Health Family is the leading provider of psychiatric digital health applications (DiGA) in Germany. These evidence-based therapy programs enable fast, flexible and guideline-based care – independent of waiting times or location – and serve as an integrative component of established treatment concepts.
With Selfapy®, we offer evidence-based digital therapy programs for depression, anxiety disorders, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. The programs are approved as DiGA, can be prescribed by physicians and are reimbursed by statutory health insurance.

Think integratively – act in combination
Looking ahead, we continue to take an integrative approach to mental health: by combining traditional pharmacological therapies with non-pharmacological approaches, we aim to further strengthen multimodal treatment options. Together with our subsidiary Medigital®, which specializes in digital innovation, we have therefore established a comprehensive clinical development program for multimodal healthcare solutions. Pharmaceuticals and digital therapeutics should not exist side by side in isolation – they must work together. This is what drives our research, for more effective therapies.
Another promising field is the exploration of the gut–brain axis. The link between mental health and the gut microbiome is now well established scientifically. That is why we are specifically investing in clinical studies on dietary interventions and in the development of microbiome-based therapies that can support the treatment of mental health conditions.
Our ambition remains clear: to think mental health multimodally – and to act effectively.
